New 3D Technology for Running Assessment and BioFeedback Training

Our new technology allows us to assess your running movement mechanics utilizing a smart sensor that measures acceleration data.  The data that is collected allows us to see elements of your gait that cannot be seen with the naked eye.  It measures 3 main elements of your gait that influence performance, efficiency, compensation and risk of injury in your gait.  These 3 elements include symmetry, dynamics stability, and impact loading.  It is also able to provide much more detailed information that is interpreted by our Doctor of Physical Therapy that founded our program.

This tool can also be used for biofeedback training to allow better adaptation to changes in gait.  Our technology is portable and can be used at our clinic or the track and can allow us to see collect data of your run on a variety of terrain.

The idea of monitoring 3D movement for sports and running performance used to only be available to professional and Olympic athletes utilizing exclusive expensive research and performance labs.  Today, we can bring this kind of technology and data collection to you in our clinic or to athletes at their schools.

Functional Movement Screening (FMS)

The goal of FMS was to create a screen for people that were not in pain to determine if there is movement dysfunction. This screen captures fundamental movements, motor control within movement patterns, and competence of basic movements uncomplicated by specific skills. It will determine the greatest areas of movement deficiency, demonstrate limitations or asymmetries and eventually correlate these with an outcome. It was originally developed to rate and rank movement patterns in athletes in an effort to determine who was ready to engage in higher level activities.

The test is comprised of 7 movement tests that require a balance of mobility and stability. It is useful in judging performance and durability in your athletic activity. Injury and pain are not required for this test to be useful. This test has the ability to explain possibilities of asymmetry or basic movement deficiencies that may be causing your recreational or athletic activities to be at a plateau. We use this a tool along with the gait analysis to start the process of correcting these deficiencies.

Access to Our Doctor of Physical Therapy Running Specialist

We are here to support you throughout your season and your year with whatever obstacles may try to sideline you.  We don't believe in just giving you an assessment without a plan to use the results from your assessment.  That is why when you sign up for an assessment with us you get exercises related to your results, access to our professionals which includes messaging for training and injury questions as well as adjustments to exercises at no extra charge.

Running is dynamic and our bodies are dynamic so we do believe that at a minimum you should have a full running assessment performed annually.  If you have injuries or significant changes in your running or training through the year you should have a follow up assessment performed.  We also offer continued in person or virtual appointments for further one-on-one training or rehabilitation.  These appointments can include use of our technology with biofeedback training or any of musculoskeletal techniques that we use for rehab and for recovery from races and training.  Our follow up sessions for individuals that have performed an initial assessment in the year and are part of our running program, will be able to have their appointments at a reduced member rate

Bringing it All Together

Our running program is your base to perform with better efficiency, less compensation, less risk of injury, and improved overall performance.  Yes, there are other factors that influence your overall performance including nutrition, sleep, and mental health as well as equipment including shoes.  Our goal is to make sure your baseline biomechanics and strength are keeping you running at your best.  We do have a fitness trainer, certified running coach and health coach as part of our clinic that can help in other areas beyond biomechanics to help you plan, train and run your best race and set your personal records.  Contact us to sign up or learn more about our program.
