Massage Therapy

Thai Massage

Thai massage techniques are very different from the Western style of massage. Unlike the kneading of muscles or other Western massage techniques, Thai massage focuses on energy points along the body, gentle compression, rocking, and stretches that are similar to the practice of Yoga.

A therapist will move slowly with the client's body through various stretches using their hands, knees, legs or feet. This modality is deeply relaxing and restorative.

Good for: Improving flexibility, improving joint mobility, separation of adhered muscles, calming the nervous system, relieving headaches, stimulating circulation

Deep Pressure Massage (Deep Tissue)

Deep Tissue Massage is focused on utilizing massage techniques to reach deep layers of muscles in order to correct an area of dysfunction.

The strokes of pressure are slow paced and careful, allowing the “knotted” muscles to respond and release on their own, restoring function of the tissue. This type of treatment is typically mixed with Trigger Point Therapy.

Good For:
Chronic Pain, Limited Range of Motion, Postural Imbalance, Tension, Restrictions

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal and postnatal massage is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during and after pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling).

Good For:
Improving Blood and Lymph Circulation, Reducing Stress on Weight-Bearing Joints, Aids in Better Sleep, Relieve Depression and Anxiety Caused by Hormonal Changes.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release until the “knot” is relaxed. The client actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort through the treatment.

Good For: Chronic pain, limited range of motion, postural imbalance, tension, restrictions

CranioSacral Techniques

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams (about the weight of a nickel) Therapy releases restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. This treatment is very slow paced. This type of modality is extremely relaxing and restorative. CST was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger.

Good for: Migraines and Headaches, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Stress, Tension, Chronic Fatigue, TMJ Syndrome, Relaxing the Central Nervous System

Cupping

Cupping uses negative pressure to lift and separate tissues, release trigger points, and improve local circulation. Cupping can be left in one spot or can be used to glide over the skin similar to massage techniques. Cupping may cause temporary bruising and soreness, depending upon the degree of suction created by the vacuum and the level of internal stagnation (blood or other fluids). The marks will typically go away within a weeks time. Good For: Musculoskeletal Pain Due to Chronic Stress/Posture, Athletes, Improving Local Blood Circulation, Improving Range of Movement and Scar Tissue.
